Immigration: Falling, the skin appeared

After debating with myself for sometimes I finally reached the decision to add the “real” color of skin to my woodcut. For all the other pieces I avoided the issue, using the excuse that the body was underwater, and the reflection of the light into the waves, and the sun, and the color of the sky….but for this one I cannot excuse myself anymore, since half of the body (the arm) is actually outside of the water. I worked a lot to reach this brown, warm, under the sun skin color, and so far I’m happy. Let’s see what happens to it after it is completely dry. To get this effect of dry skin under the sun after days on a boat I used a lot of color and a lot of pressure on the wood press, then I peeled the paper from the woodblock very slowly to give the paint the time to detach from one surface, but not perfectly. Here some images and detail.Falling Falling

A big chunk of this brown is going to be covered anyway from the next layers of red and white, but I like what I’m seeing so far.
